Message from Mayor and Council on the Passing of Councillor Ken Blodgett
It is with heavy hearts that the Mayor and Council of Gore Bay announce the passing of Councillor Blodgett, who dedicated over 20 years of his life to serving our community.
Ken was much more than a public servant; he was a true character who lit up every room he entered. His infectious sense of humour and warm personality made him beloved by all who knew him. Whether in Council meetings or casual conversations, Ken had a unique way of making everyone laugh and feel welcome, creating an atmosphere of lightness even during the most challenging times.
He was not only a valued member of our Council but also a good friend to many, including myself. Ken was a successful local businessman who gave much to his community, and his influence extended far beyond his work on Council. He was an active participant in the annual Sportsman’s Hockey tournaments and a passionate supporter of the game.
His wit, charm, and ability to bring joy to any situation were only matched by his unwavering dedication to the town of Gore Bay. His steady presence, thoughtful insight, and genuine care of his fellow residents made him a beloved figure in our town.
On behalf of the entire community, we extend our deepest condolences to Ken’s family and loved ones. His absence will be deeply felt, but his influence will remain in the foundation of the work he helped build over so many years.
Ken Blodgett will be dearly missed, and we are grateful for the privilege of having had him serve alongside us. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. We will be lowering the flags to half mast at our Town Office as well as our Community Hall in honour of Councillor Blodgett.
Sincerely,
Ron Lane
Mayor
Town of Gore Bay
