Further to the press release issued on November 28th, I would like to clarify a few items regarding the decommissioning of the old Water Street Playground. We have completed the removal of the items from the site. Those items that are salvageable after removal have been offered to the Gore Bay Daycare, but they have communicated to us that they do not have the space for additional equipment. We will be relocating the ride-on spring items to the Swim Beach. Any other items will be put up for sale to the public, the proceeds of which will be used to fund other recreational activities in town. Please watch the Town’s Facebook page and website for when these items will be up for sale.

As far as the site is concerned, the intention for this space is to create a landscaped green space, with benches and picnic tables for future family enjoyment. This will not be turned into a parking lot. But there will be angle street parking on the street, not only to serve this area but also the boardwalk and the waterfront as a whole.

We appreciate the public’s interest in this space and welcome you to attend meetings, follow up with minutes on our website, and get involved with local government. Myself as Mayor, and my fellow Councillors are here to represent you and welcome you to contact us. As I had said in my Mayor’s update, if at any time anyone has questions, concerns or suggestions please feel free to call the Town Office at 705-282-2420 or email me at mayor@gorebay.ca
