Refund Policy

The Town of Gore Bay is committed to providing clear and transparent guidelines for refund requests related to payments made for municipal services, programs, or fees. This policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds may be granted and the procedures for requesting them.

Eligibility for Refunds

Refundable Payments

Refunds may be issued under the following circumstances:

1. Service Cancellation by the Town: If a program, event, or service is cancelled by the Town of Gore Bay, a full refund will be provided.
2. Overpayment or Duplicate Payment: If a payment error occurs resulting in an overpayment or duplicate charge, the excess amount will be refunded, or applied as a credit to an account.
3. Resident-Initiated Cancellation: Refunds for resident-initiated cancellations (e.g., program registration or facility bookings) will be considered based on the following:

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to admin@gorebay.ca.

Refunds may be subject to administrative fees or cancellation charges.

No refunds will be provided for cancellations made less than 48-hours prior to the scheduled program or booking date, unless exceptional circumstances apply (e.g., medical emergencies).

Non-Refundable Payments

The following payments are non-refundable:

• Property taxes and penalties.
• Utility payments.
• Administrative fees for services rendered (e.g., permits, licenses, processing fees).
• Donations and sponsorships.

Refund Process

1. Submitting a Refund Request: Refund requests must be submitted to the Town of Gore Bay, either in person, by e-mail, or through the website’s contact form. Include the payer’s name, payment receipt or confirmation number, and the reason for the refund request.
2. Processing Time: Refund requests will be reviewed within 10 business days of receipt. Approved refunds will be processed within 10 business days after approval.
3. Refund Method: Refunds will be issued using the original payment method whenever possible. Alternative arrangements may be made if the original payment method is unavailable.
