Planning and Development

The Town of Gore Bay is committed to supporting sustainable growth and development. Whether you're a homeowner, business owner, or developer, we’re here to help guide you through the process. Our progressive council and Planning & Development Task Force work closely with the Manitoulin Planning Board to ensure a smooth and efficient experience. We encourage anyone considering a project—big or small—to meet with us early in the process to explore opportunities and navigate approvals together.

The Manitoulin Planning Board is responsible for the administration of all planning matters within the municipality.

The Manitoulin Planning Board was created by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing under the Planning Act. The Board is composed of 10 members representing eight municipalities and two unincorporated townships on Manitoulin, and is supported by two full-time and one part-time staff members.
